Independent Missouri group health broker
Group health insurance for Missouri employers
Missouri small group carriers asked for double-digit increases again for 2027. We compare every carrier writing plans in your area, check the networks against your team, and set the whole thing up. You pay nothing extra for the help.
- Small groups of 2 to 50 and large groups of 51 or more
- Plans from Kansas City to St. Louis, Springfield and every county between
- One broker for quotes, enrollment, claim help and every renewal
The 2027 renewal
Taking the renewal as offered is how most Missouri employers overpay
Every carrier in Missouri's small group market filed for an increase next year, and the spread between carriers is wide. Within a single carrier, some plans are slated to rise more than twice as much as others. The renewal letter only shows you one of those numbers.
Shopping the same benefits across carriers, or moving to a different plan design with the same carrier, often closes a large part of the gap. That comparison takes hours you probably do not have, which is the whole reason we exist.
- UnitedHealthcare +17.23%
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City +15.58%
- Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield +14.56%
- Medica +12.61%

Coverage by company size
Two paths, depending on headcount
Missouri draws the small group line at 50 eligible employees. The rules, rating and plan choices change once you cross it.
Small business health insurance
ACA small group plans rated by age and ZIP code, plus level-funded options for healthier groups. Built for owners covering a team for the first time or fighting a steep renewal.

Large group health insurance
Experience-rated, level-funded and self-funded plans, with help on ACA reporting and the employer mandate that kicks in at 50 full-time equivalents.

Three steps, and we do most of the work
-
Tell us about your team
Headcount, ZIP code, and your current renewal if you have one. Ten minutes on the phone or the quote form is enough.
-
We shop the Missouri market
We line up plans from the carriers writing small group coverage in your part of the state and check each network against the doctors your people use.
-
Pick a plan, we set it up
You choose the plan and how much the business pays. We handle applications, enrollment and ID cards, then stay on for claims help and renewals.
Why an independent broker
You see the whole Missouri market, not one carrier's shelf
Call a carrier and you hear about that carrier's plans. Call us and you see every option available to a group your size in your ZIP code, side by side, with the networks checked.
- We compare Anthem, Blue KC, Medica, UnitedHealthcare and level-funded alternatives where they fit.
- We look up your employees' doctors and hospitals before you pick, not after.
- We run contribution scenarios so you know the real cost to the business.
- We handle the paperwork, the switch, and the next renewal.
Same premium, with or without us. Carriers build broker pay into every rate. Going direct does not make your plan cheaper. It just means you do the shopping yourself.
Where your team gets care
Networks change from one Missouri metro to the next
Missouri has ten insurance rating areas, and carrier networks follow hospital systems more than city limits. Before you choose a plan, confirm the clinics and hospitals your employees already use.
Kansas City, MO
Teams split across the state line need a network that works on both sides. Check it before you sign.
Kansas City group plans →St. Louis
Employees spread from the city into the county and Metro East. Network reach across the river matters.
St. Louis group plans →Springfield
Two big hospital systems anchor the Ozarks. Make sure your plan includes the one your people use.
Springfield group plans →Columbia
Mid-Missouri teams often commute in from rural towns. Confirm network depth outside city limits.
Columbia group plans →Lee's Summit
A fast-growing suburb with commuters all over the metro. Coverage needs to follow them.

Missouri group health questions
What counts as a small group in Missouri?
Missouri law defines a small employer as a business with at least 2 and no more than 50 eligible employees, where an eligible employee works a normal week of 30 hours or more. Groups above 50 buy large group coverage, which follows different rating rules. We place both.
Does a broker cost my business anything?
No. Carriers pay brokers a commission that is already built into the premium. Your rate is the same whether you call a carrier yourself or work with us, so having us shop the market adds nothing to your bill.
Which carriers sell small group plans in Missouri?
For 2027, four carriers filed ACA small group rates with the Missouri Department of Commerce and Insurance: Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City, Medica, and UnitedHealthcare. Blue KC is the Blue plan around Kansas City and northwest Missouri while Anthem covers most of the rest of the state, so your ZIP code shapes which options you see. Level-funded and other alternatives can widen the field for some groups.
How much are Missouri small group rates going up for 2027?
Carriers proposed average increases between 12.61% and 17.23% for 2027, according to state filings as of July 31, 2026. Your own renewal can land above or below those averages, since it depends on your plan, your employees' ages and where they live.
When can we start a group plan?
Small group plans can start on the first of almost any month. There is no single open enrollment window for employers, so the best time to shop is about 60 days before your renewal or the date you want coverage to begin.
Do you stick around after we enroll?
Yes. We handle adds and terms, claim snags, and billing questions through the year, then re-shop the market before every renewal. That yearly check is where most of the savings come from.
